Myanmar rice exports expected to rise 0.5 million tons than last year

SHIJIAZHUANG,May 16, 2016—According to the Myanmar local news reported May 7, Myanmar rice Association expects rice exports quantity increased by 50 million tons this
year than last year.
The vice chairman of the association said
that the export quantity will be between 1.5 to 2 million tons this fiscal year.
China is the major trading partner of Myanmar rice,but Myanmar still seek the opportunity
to have a coorperation with some Asian and African countries.
The chairman of the association said that the chinese rice import quantity is hard to expect,and the quantity will be influnced by many factors.In 2015-2016, Myanmar has exported 1.4 million tons rice to 70 countries, which 75% are exported to China. Myanmar rice Association and the Myanmar Ministry of Commerce have a coorperation to establish a laboratory in Yangon, on rice, fruits and vegetables disease research.
